After reading chapter 4 in Shift This, Mrs. Boykin shared her inspiration for how she'd like her students to decorate the room! In July, she shared that she'd like for her students to Skype or have a Google Hangout with an expert during this process, as well. She's figuring out the details... Just yesterday, she shared photos of the challenge and some of her students' work! She said it's "so hard to letting my students take control of decorating the class." No doubt! These students will know it's THEIR classroom. Check it out! Now the middle of September, Mrs. Boykin teases her followers with this message and photos:
Ms. Cave is pumped for "Coach Cave Callouts" where students celebrate great things others are doing! Add this to your classroom (similar to the positive peer feedback jar), and good notes home will practically write themselves!
Lisa Scumpieru asked her students to draw images/words. She has 120+ students. She will use their artwork displayed in Google Classroom as the headers!
On September 7th, Kimberly Maratto posted photos of blank bulletin boards in her middle school classroom... Just two days later, students took ownership! What are their plans for next week? They'll be working on desk arrangements!!
This post was originally posted on July 23, 2017, but Angela Reading wrote a blog post about HOW she transformed these tables... Angela Reading started the process to create a more collaborative classroom. She's making magnetic dry erase tables that she found on Craig's List! "They were a good deal, and they roll!"
Jessica (7th grade math teacher) took the "Saturday Sunshine" good notes home idea and added her own welcoming / good times twist to it! Check out that heading - she even included her bitmoji!
Andrew Spinali included his new mission statement in his annual welcome email to students and parents... You've gotta love the suspense hook he adds at the end! He added that #6 is going to be based on a children's book he and his students read on Day 1, so the students will help him write it! I'll update this post when he shares... (to be continued...)
Alana Stanton got me inspired and ready to start the next school year! Check out her blog post here:
And thank you to Trisha Connor who shared this video in response to Alana's post:
One more... Joe Young shared this speech he was reminded of:
Ms. Mosby has made her first attempt at a mission statement, and I, for one, believe we need her teaching our children!! Check it out, and steal wording if you must!
